Buyer Beware!!!!

2008-10-10

From the 31st of March 2008, natural gas fired boilers in new dwellings must meet a minimum seasonal net efficiency of 86%. In addition where natural gas fired boilers are being installed as replacements in existing dwellings, those boilers must meet a minimum seasonal net efficiency of 86% where practicable. This is a significant change to the building regulations and will hugely impact on current work practices been carried out by professional heating contractors. All need now to ensure that the customer is not exposed to future complaints and/or litigation arising from installations from this date that did not conform to the new regulations. Failure to conform to the new regulations is very likely to be captured/highlighted during Energy Rating inspections under BER resulting in complaints and significant costs to rectify any non conformances. It will be important that the customer is made fully aware of this new regulations and that contractors adhere and conform to same at all times.
